Be the successful candidate during “The Youth Tour Interview” and you could win an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. with other winners from across the state of Texas.

Lamb County Electric Cooperative will send three students on the 2024 Youth Tour. To earn your spot on this amazing trip June 16-23, 2024, you must be classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior from Amherst, Anton, Levelland, Littlefield, Olton, Sudan, Whiteface, Whitharral, or be a classified high school student who is in a state approved “home school” program or from a “transfer” high school and your parent or legal guardian is a member of Lamb County Electric Cooperative. Once you enter the contest, all you have to do is tell a panel of judges why you would be a great Cooperative representative on the Youth Tour. It's that easy! No essays to write. No detailed speeches to prepare. It will be more like an interview, but instead of selling yourself for a job, you will be selling yourself for a FREE trip to Washington, D.C.
Participants will be required to appear before an independent panel of judges to discuss the following topics:
- Why should I be chosen as Lamb County Electric Cooperative’s delegate to the 2024 youth tour and what do I expect to gain from the experience?
- Tell what you know about Lamb County Electric Cooperative? (i.e. number of meters, board of directors, counties served, etc.)
- What is the difference between a Cooperative and an investor owned utility? Know some specifics
- What is Texas Electric Cooperatives and what is their function in the youth tour?
Participants will have 5 – 7 minutes of interview time
Judges will have the opportunity to ask questions
(hint: know and understand cooperatives)
Winners will be chosen on how well they “present themselves” in an interview setting by answering the four questions listed above (80 percent) and on their speaking ability, appearance and poise (20 percent).
